How often we intend to spend more time studying to spiritualize...

How often we intend to spend more time studying to spiritualize thought, but the tomorrow when we intend to do it never seems to come. Have we planned to read Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy all the way through, or, if we have had Christian Science class instruction, have we intended to completely review our class material? An experience that forced me to drop all daily activities and devote full time to prayer and study to meet a pressing need taught me not to put off studying until tomorrow.

While scuba diving in deep water off the Baja Peninsula in Mexico, my feet and legs got scratched by some rocks and coral. It is not a serious or an uncommon occurrence to get scratched occasionally when diving. However, on returning home after a couple of days I discovered an infection developing in the areas of the broken skin. This quickly spread over most of the forward area of my feet, creating open sores and causing extreme discomfort.

In retrospect, I feel that when the skin cuts first appeared, had I immediately responded with a certainty of my true spiritual nature and prayed thoroughly, I could have more quickly gained an effective sense of God's healing power. Nevertheless, I was complacent and failed to do this.
