At one time my son came home after three years in the Navy
At one time my son came home after three years in the Navy. He was suffering from a form of insanity, and doctors said they could do no more for him. In desperation I sought the assistance of a Christian Science practitioner. He assured me that our heavenly Father was protecting and blessing every member of our household with perfect love and harmony. This helped both my son and me. I became acquainted with the God I had been seeking for years. For the first time I understood Him as a God of love, not a harsh Deity who punishes us with sickness and death, as I had been taught to believe in childhood. Within ten days of my initial call to the practitioner, my son was fully healed. All symptoms of the insanity were gone, and he embarked on a career as a printer, which proved highly successful.
It was at this point that I started reading Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. The following year, my husband was healed of drinking. The wonderful changes that took place in our home were many—so many, in fact, that we knew a power greater than our own was adjusting and directing our lives.
About twenty-five years ago I had a throat infection. It was so severe that I found it impossible to swallow even water. Greatly alarmed, family members insisted I see a specialist. Feeling worse than I ever had in my life, afraid that I was going to die, I finally yielded to their pleas and made an appointment with a throat specialist. After examining my throat and taking a specimen, he insisted I go to the hospital. I was instructed to call him the next day to get the final analysis of the condition.
