The single eye
To have the single eye Jesus referred to is to see reality. "When thine eye is single," the Master declared, "thy whole body also is full of light." Luke 11:34;
To achieve this illumination, one must steadfastly devote his efforts to obtaining an understanding of God and His universe, including man. As one does, his consciousness is gradually illumined, and he begins to discern between the light of spiritual understanding and the mental darkness of the physical senses.
Christian Science, which explains the spiritual meaning of the Bible, acquaints us first with God. It reiterates the Bible teaching that He is Spirit and that Spirit is All—everywhere. It declares that God is divine Principle, the source of the unchanging laws that govern His creation; that He is Father-Mother, divine Love, who sustains all He has made.
