Injury and infection healed

I was splitting some logs for my fireplace one January when a metal particle from the wedge I was using broke and penetrated my thigh. The bleeding was profuse. Returning to the house, I asked my wife to call a Christian Science practitioner, since I was becoming faint and felt in need of instant help to stop the bleeding. However, she was unable to reach the practitioner I had requested. At that point, I decided that as a class-taught student of this Science, I was equipped to handle this case myself.

My next act was to turn completely to God for enlightenment. Immediately, portions of Mrs. Eddy's answer to the question "What is man?" came to mind (Science and Health, p. 475): "Man is not matter; he is not made up of brain, blood, bones, and other material elements. ... Man is spiritual and perfect." I knew these were factual statements about man, because I had seen proof of them many times before. I also knew that "perfect" means just that, and that true perfection is not subject to change. Shortly, the bleeding stopped.

The next morning I had an appointment in one of our schools to meet with the principal, his secretary, and a representative of a business systems corporation. We were to install a new accounting system in that school as a trial project, and it was necessary for me to be there. The weather was below zero, and the school was some distance away. Doubts as to my ability to make the trip to school and sit through the long meeting had to be met and overcome. When I saw that the same truth I had realized the night before was just as true now as when the bleeding was stopped, I was able to act with complete freedom.
