Years ago I was having surgery and caustic treatment for polypous growths and adenoids. When I told an aunt how terrible the treatments were, she lent me Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. My mother was skeptical of Christian Science and disturbed about my reading this book. But a friend told my mother that this Science heals and that her uncle was a Christian Science practitioner.

The next time I was to go to the doctor, my father and I stopped by to talk with this uncle. He spoke to us of God's great love and how it heals just as it did when Christ Jesus was on earth. As we sat quietly, he prayed for me and asked us to repeat the Lord's Prayer.

Later that day I kept the appointment with the doctor, who examined my throat and found no trace of the trouble. The polypous growths and adenoidal difficulty had been completely healed. My father and I stopped at the Christian Science Reading Room to purchase a copy of Science and Health. Then we went home and threw out all our medicine.
