The basis of demonstration

Principle, the Divine Being, in expressing itself manifests its perfection—eternally. It does so without delay or hesitation. And it does so without toiling.

In demonstrating Christian Science, these are pivotal truths. Should healing seem uncertain, slow, labored, we can carefully check the premise of our prayer and thought. Here is an important criterion from Mary Baker Eddy against which we can measure our approach: "The Christlike understanding of scientific being and divine healing includes a perfect Principle and idea,—perfect God and perfect man,—as the basis of thought and demonstration." Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 259;

Christian Science prayer and demonstration, starting with God, start with perfection. Man, seen from the standpoint of Spirit, is perfect—is as perfect as the standpoint. Man, seen from the standpoint of a mortal, is believed to be mortal and imperfect—as imperfect as that standpoint. Man is as flawless as God because man is the reflection of God. God is the fountain of ideal, ever-unfolding being, revealing Himself without resistance or stoppage. In this sense, He is at rest. And man is at rest, enjoying—even being—the eternal expressiveness of divine Life.
