You, man beloved
O lily of the field—
apt metaphor—
your beauty is not piled on outside.
It grows within, essential,
according with the clear idea of Love.
O fowl of the air—
again no high-flown phrase,
again exact—describing one whose wealth
comes with the hour of its need,
not stored, not ballast holding you from skies.
O man, called in this Sermon on the Mount
far more beloved than these, how high
you're held, how well supplied;
how Love unfolds the petals of your joy;
how Mind creates, enhances, and preserves
you, man beloved.
