Several years ago I went through one of the most difficult trials of my life. Whenever I did much walking, one of my knees became swollen and painful. Doctors could not find the cause, and in vain I tried numerous remedies, wanting to be healed at any price. Following their advice, I was reduced to walking a few steps around my apartment. The future seemed dismal.

A friend had heard of healings in Christian Science and advised me to try it. At the time I was an atheist and, above all, did not want to hear talk about religion. Nevertheless I was ready to try anything to lead a normal life again. I attended testimony meetings conducted by Christian Scientists. I was very impressed by the healings attained solely through scientific prayer, But I thought they were reserved for people much better than I!

Then I went to see a Christian Science practitioner. I will never forget the way she talked to me about God, defining Him as Love. I felt that the faith and love she reflected were evidence that she understood this divine Truth I was seeking.
