In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures Mary Baker Eddy tells us (P. vii), "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, today is big with blessings." When I learned of Christian Science, I found myself filled with blessings.

Before this, I had been tired and depressed because of various problems. My health was broken, and after being under medical treatment for fifteen years I was, according to medical diagnoses, suffering from deformative rheumatism, arthritis, temporary deafness, yearly attacks of influenza, and problems with my throat. As I began to study Christian Science, I requested prayerful treatment from a practitioner. Although the deafness, influenza, and the throat condition were healed immediately, the other healings were slow but sure. I continued to have prayerful treatment in Christian Science and went daily to a Christian Science Reading Room. The prayer of the practitioner, together with my own work, brought a transformation of thought, and the other healings were completed. With firm faith in God, the "things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" became apparent (Heb. 11:1).

Science has been a great help to me. I have had many trials and have come out of them stronger, always depending on God. At the passing of relatives I found comfort in Hymn No. 174 in the Christian Science Hymnal, with these opening words: "Like as a mother, God comforteth His children." I am very grateful to God to be a member of The Mother Church and a branch church, and to be able to work in the vineyard of the Lord.
