Late in 1976 I suddenly became very ill

Late in 1976 I suddenly became very ill. Since I was living alone, and I could get no one to care for me, I was taken to a hospital. There doctors diagnosed various diseases: jaundice, a blood condition, inflammation of the liver and gallbladder, and gallstones. They considered my case to be hopeless and did not expect me to survive.

Despite this verdict, I did not lose the courage to live. I told the doctors I was a Christian Scientist and would not accept medical treatment because I wanted to rely solely on God for healing. They were astounded at this and pointed out the seriousness of my condition. But I held uninterruptedly to the truth: only God can really heal.

I asked a Christian Science practitioner to help me. And I adhered to my trust in God, knowing that nothing is impossible with Him. From then on my condition changed, and improvement gradually became evident. The shadows of death vanished. When the doctors saw my progress, they were pleased and granted my request for release from the hospital. In a short time my health was fully restored. All the diseases had been healed. I can say, in the words of Christ Jesus, "Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me" (John 11:41).
