The calm before the healing
A love for the truths of being will heal. But more is needed than right words—even if they are declared with conviction.
The quality of thought we entertain is crucial to success in treatment. Many qualities contribute to success. One of them is calmness. Healing does not come naturally and quickly to a human mind filled with excitement, fear, instability. A quiet state of consciousness is conducive to healing, but using human will to maintain a calm, material mentality is not the answer. Calmness comes from yielding to the still and quiet consciousness derived from divine Truth.
The term "animal magnetism" describes the nature of mortal mind. Mortal mind could be characterized in many ways. For instance, it could be described as a state of excitement—one that assumes man's separation from Truth. But man is the unalterable, conscious expression of Truth. Truth is certain, still, perfect. Man's real nature is undisturbed. The quietness of his being is sustained by the Word of God. The Bible says of God, "Thy word is settled in heaven." Ps. 119:89;
