During college, a desire for peace of mind and physical healing...
During college, a desire for peace of mind and physical healing prompted me to talk to a Christian Science chaplain and his wife. For two years I had admired their constant joy and enthusiasm for life. They gave me a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, and I began reading it. At first little of it made sense.
Since childhood I had been subject to epileptic seizures, and recently the attacks had become worse. I was eager to be free of this affliction; so one day, while talking with the chaplain's wife, I asked if Christian Science could heal disease. Her response was an immediate and convincing "yes!" This encouraged me to continue to read Science and Health.
I began to learn that God is all good and that man reflects Him. The clearer these ideas became to me, the more good I saw evidenced in my own life.
