Developing the potential of inner-city children
Does the future promise any hope for inner-city children? Current statistics give little, but Christian Science says yes, it does. All children are the children of God.
St. Paul said, "Ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus." Gal. 3:26; Also, "Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness." I Thess. 5:5;
Seen from the standpoint of spiritual sense, the child of the inner city is not a victim of environment or heredity. He is not a helpless mortal, belonging to a deprived minority. Nor is he a member of a fatherless family or the leader of a lawless street gang. Rather, he belongs to God's universal family, created and sustained by the one Father-Mother. As the reflection of the one divine Mind, he expresses intelligence, integrity, and love.
