Don't be sidetracked

There are many lessons to be learned from Noah's listening only to God in building the ark. To our knowledge, he did not ask God, "Why?" nor attempt to explain that he should have the approval of his family, especially as there was no sign of foul weather—and what would his friends think of such radical action when there was no water for the ark to sail on? Obviously, Noah's thought was at one with God.

When we understand ourselves as God's reflections, we are no longer sidetracked by the whys, whats, buts, or can'ts of mortal mind. Noah listened to God alone and obeyed. So must we.

Another interesting lesson comes from the symbolic use of "pitch." Some years ago my husband and I visited near Trinidad a very special lake, considered one of the world's interesting phenomena. This lake covers a hundred and forty acres of viscous pitch, and we walked on part of it. Hundreds of barrels of pitch are drawn from the lake daily, yet in a few hours the vacuums are filled. The pitch is sent to many parts of the world to help in paving streets and highways.
