When I was a child, my father was healed of severe annual attacks of quinsy. This happened after one visit with a Christian Science practitioner. After that I attended the Christian Science Sunday School wherever we lived. By adhering to the rules given in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, our family has had many blessings. We have never felt lack or limitation and have been relatively free of disease and accident.
When there's a need for healing, this is approached quietly and confidently through prayer and the study of God's Word in the Bible. I credit our blessings to daily study of the Bible Lesson in the Christian Science Quarterly and to daily, watchful prayer. We have seen proof of the efficacy of the words of our Leader, Mrs. Eddy (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 210): "Good thoughts are an impervious armor; clad therewith you are completely shielded from the attacks of error of every sort. And not only yourselves are safe, but all whom your thoughts rest upon are thereby benefited."
About two years ago, while on vacation, I suffered from a painful tooth. Through my own prayer and study I obtained relief, but the condition was not healed. On returning home, I decided to see a dentist for corrective action. By that time the tooth bothered me so that I could not chew with it. The dentist told me the tooth was badly infected and loose and would have to be pulled unless the infection could be cleared up quickly. He told me a certain medication should be taken several times daily for a week before he would determine whether the tooth should be pulled.
