Instant in season
With listening ear and watchful eye
the Son of man
took no time out
to program work, to measure
or calculate the risk.
And little leisure.
None were too insignificant,
far-out, or different, who came
yearning for healing.
Never did he turn away
expediently;
he knew that same cry would not be
repeated at some future
more convenient day.
Ah, VIPs, and the rest of us, too,
who think we have so much to do
and have "no time,"
let's not confine our gaze to distant peak
but see the need at hand, and stop to speak
the healing word to passerby.
