... a capacity for happiness
A happy nature is something we all have. And if we realized how much a part of our identity joy is, we wouldn't think of ourselves or our day in any other way.
It's easy to get very sober over our expression of divine Truth and Love. But if we aren't happy, are we really expressing truth and love as attributes of God? If we are mouthing words of Truth but find no joy in Truth, then shouldn't we be asking ourselves, What is Truth? If we are doggedly trying to express divine Love, do we understand Love?
Mrs. Eddy makes this interesting comment: "Love that is not the procurator of happiness, declares itself the antipode of Love ...." Miscellaneous Writings, p. 351; Truth and Love cannot be separated from the happiness they impart, and nothing makes us happier or more satisfied than living the spiritual truths we learn in Christian Science. God is All, and He is all good. His creation, including man, is all good. So how can one be good and not be happy and satisfied?
