When our daughter was quite young, she had chicken pox

When our daughter was quite young, she had chicken pox. One evening I discovered her body was covered with the spots. She asked me not to look at them. I was immediately reminded of this Bible verse referring to God (Hab. 1:13): "Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity." Our daughter had been taught that God does not make disease, and by not looking at the evidence we could better know its unreality and her perfection as His child. Neither of us was further disturbed. By morning the spots were almost gone, and she was soon entirely free.

I am grateful that study of Christian Science has given me a deeper understanding of the Bible. Mrs. Eddy says (Science and Health, p. 547): "The Scriptures are very sacred. Our aim must be to have them understood spiritually, for only by this understanding can truth be gained." This spiritual understanding gives us needed assurance that God is guiding and governing our lives.

Some years ago, on short notice, my husband was transferred by his firm to another province. The task of selling our home and moving was left to me. At first many people came to see the house but found it unsuitable, mainly because of its small size. I had asked a Christian Science practitioner to pray for me, and together we recognized God as the provider of all good. I was encouraged to see our house as a blessing to the one who would receive it, as it had been to us. The house was sold, and the new owner was most appreciative.
