While driving alone I was severely injured in an auto accident

While driving alone I was severely injured in an auto accident. Years of relying on God's care, as revealed in Christian Science, have brought me many blessings. In this situation I was confidently able to refuse the medical aid that was offered to me, in spite of the prediction by a paramedic on the scene that injuries I had sustained—deep head wounds—could only be taken care of in a hospital. There was also evidence of a severe neck injury and of damaged ribs.

When my husband arrived, he took me home, and we called a Christian Science practitioner to ask for treatment. As we related the dire medical opinion concerning the proper care for the type of injury, the practitioner joyously assured us that our help is always right at hand since God is ever present. We then secured the services of a Christian Science nurse, who bathed the head wounds.

I am grateful to say I was never in bed for a full day. I read and studied constantly and eagerly, and I found inspiration through listening to tapes of Mrs. Eddy's hymns and selections from her writings and from the Bible. Every day I spoke with the practitioner, who lived two hundred miles away, and she drove to see me twice.
