Performing with assurance

After she lost the violin concerto competition for the second time, Cindy thought to herself, "Will I ever be able to perform without feeling nervous?"

Cindy knew, as Mrs. Eddy writes, "Man is the expression of God's being." Science and Health, p. 470; She knew that her ability to do well came from God, divine Mind. But proving what she knew to be true wasn't easy.

When Cindy was a high school sophomore her violin teacher had encouraged her to enter the annual concerto competition sponsored by the city symphony orchestra. She was accustomed to playing solos for small informal groups, but performing before judges who were professional musicians was a new and somewhat frightening experience. In the first competition she entered, six winners were selected, but Cindy wasn't one of them.
