My husband and I have had many healings just by reading Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. The healings include those of smoking, migraine headaches, and swearing. How grateful I am for the friends who introduced me to Christian Science thirty-three years ago and since that time have stood ready to help. Most of all, I am grateful to God for Christ Jesus, the master Christian, and for our Leader, Mrs. Eddy.

At one time I had a lot of trouble with my back and spine. I sometimes felt something go out of place; I would fall, and it was very painful. Following involvement in an accident I had been sleeping on the sofa, for this was easier for me. During the night I would waken in fear, but I declared the truths I was learning in Science. I studied what Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health of the unreality of accidents. And I pondered "the scientific statement of being," which begins (Science and Health, p. 468): "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all." This verse in the Bible helped me a lot (Acts 17:28): "For in him [God] we live, and move, and have our being." During one such night of prayer and study I was healed. The next morning I got up completely free, and I have had no further difficulty with my back.

Another healing I will always treasure is that of influenza. I was feeling very ill and trying to keep my thoughts on some statements of truth I had learned in Science, but the family TV was very loud. I went to my bedroom and prayed to our Father. I tried to feel nearer to Him, as the Bible says (James 4:8), "Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you." As I prayed in this way, all at once I felt a softness and warmth. I just knew God was taking care of me, and I fell asleep. The next morning I got up with no symptoms of flu.
