"My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced...

"My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour." With these words of Mary in the Gospel of Luke (1:46, 47), I would like to express my gratitude for the loving care of our Father-Mother God that I have been able to prove in my life.

For many years I was afflicted with problems that seemed unsolvable, and I felt tired, discouraged, with no more joy of living.

One morning, upon awakening, I felt very ill. My sister, who is a doctor, told me to stay in bed because my heart was in bad condition. No sooner had she left me alone than I dragged myself to the telephone and called a Christian Science practitioner. She told me to be still in God's presence. The love she showed me destroyed my fear. She also told me, "God is your Life." I realized His law of harmony controlled my breath and my heart. I felt within me great peace as I thought deeply about these words and their immediate effect. I sought to understand the true spiritual significance of them, reflecting at length upon the answer to the question "What is man?" that Mary Baker Eddy gives in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. This passage in particular held my attention (p. 475): "Man is idea, the image, of Love; he is not physique."
