Seeing the real man
Healing in Christian Science is the result of seeing man as he is. And what man is, is what God expresses of Himself. Man is God's perfect reflection. What needs to be healed in every case is not an actual disease or discord but a false view of man. The healing reveals the true view.
We fail to gain the true view of man when we focus thought on the condition we want to heal. Too often what we visualize in our human effort to see the real man is little more than a patched-up view of a discordant physical or personal condition.
If one is in pain, it is not enough to see oneself without pain. Man is not a physical specimen without pain. He is not physical at all. The reflection of God is spiritual because God is Spirit, Mind, not matter. So what we see when we see the real instead of the unreal man is a spiritual idea embodying the wonderful, beautiful, whole, complete qualities of infinite Spirit.
