Relationship on a higher plane

When we glimpse even a little of our true, spiritual bonds with one another, we begin to understand, as the Master did that "it is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing,"John 6:63; and we see the need to relinquish belief in fleshly ties. This is not necessarily a difficult and painful experience. Not if we take this step through spiritual understanding and as a natural result of following the example of Christ Jesus.

Dropping fleshly beliefs and grasping spiritual truths, we find that true ties are never fleshly ones but always spiritual, harmonious, and eternal. In Science we are related to the one infinite Spirit, God, as His spiritual offspring. Mrs. Eddy writes: "God holds man in the eternal bonds of Science,—in the immutable harmony of divine law. Man is a celestial; and in the spiritual universe he is forever individual and forever harmonious."No and Yes, p. 26;

Through the evangelization of the human self, we learn of our real individuality; and as we work out problems in human relationships, we learn of this selfhood's harmony with the true universe. Such spiritual learning solves our problems and governs our human experience. So our prayerful work in Science has both individual and collective aspects. Family life and other human relationships can play an important part in the salvation of mankind.
