Loving the enemy
Have you ever asked yourself when you felt that someone had treated you badly, "Why must I always be the one to forgive?"
In the Sermon on the Mount, Christ Jesus tells us that we must do more than forgive. He commands us to love, bless, do good to, and pray for our enemies. "And what will they be doing mean-while?" you may counter.
Primarily it is our own peace of mind that we seek in such instances, our own freedom from torment and reaction. And to hate somebody is torment.
