"Man is...radiating spiritual vivacity and love"

A definite, living presence

You and I can feel God's presence at every moment. We can be filled with joy at the thought that God is ever with us. Mrs. Eddy felt this joy. She declares: "To-day my soul can only sing and soar. An increasing sense of God's love, omnipresence, and omnipotence enfolds me. Each day I know Him nearer, love Him more, and humbly pray to serve Him better." The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 174; Let us ask ourselves, Am I loving God more and praying to serve Him better every day?

Christ Jesus taught his disciples how God cares for the smallest things—the lilies of the field, the tiny birds in the air—as a father cares for his children. We gain a sense of peace and rest as we feel His guardian care and love. Can we possibly be lonely, fearful, or anxious when we are conscious of God at our side? To the Christian Scientist, God is not present as a corporeal person but as infinite Spirit, Truth, Love, good—as the Principle of the universe, including man.

Since God is omnipresent, we must acknowledge His omnipotence, for otherwise we admit the presence of another power besides the Almighty. As the Principle of the universe, God is the sole power governing and controlling every effect, maintaining His spiritual creation in perfect law and order. And "none can stay his hand." Dan. 4:35: Thus we see the utter powerlessness, the absolute unreality, of any force of evil.
