Through the gentle ministrations of the Christ as revealed in Christian Science we have had many beautiful healings in our family.

A precious healing is that of tone deafness in our daughter when she was small. Her efforts to sing on pitch had been fruitless. But it was clear to me that she was perfect and complete, lacking nothing. Every time I heard her attempt to sing, I was convinced of this spiritual fact. Occasionally I would sing with her, gently encouraging her to sing on pitch. Gradually, she could sing two or three notes on pitch before her voice wandered. I never accepted the problem as real or as part of her or of anyone. One joyous day, when she was about five years old, I heard her singing along with a very complicated song on her record player, exactly on pitch. A few times after that her pitch wandered slightly, but I held to the fact of her completeness as God's expression. This lack never appeared again. Today, at ten years, she enjoys singing and can pick out tunes on the piano by ear. She enjoys piano lessons as well.

Precious, too, is my own healing of a deep and constant sense of dissatisfaction, present since childhood. It manifested itself as restlessness, fear, egotism, moodiness, possessiveness, and a general lack of purpose. This healing did not come quickly nor easily. It required many struggles to put off self, particularly self-will, but the healing has brought contentment and joy into my life, giving me the desire to know and to do God's will. Soon after came the effortless falling away of a tendency to occasionally fly into a rage.
