I will always be grateful to the medical nurse who was the means of bringing Christian Science to me at a time when I was struggling unsuccessfully to recuperate from a surgical operation and nervous breakdown. Also for the Christian Science practitioner who first gave me prayerful treatment and introduced me to the teachings of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.

It wasn't easy learning to think and act from a wholly spiritual basis, as my family and entire human environment were quite different. Many times I flung Science and Health from me in utter frustration and discouragement, only to pick it up and prayerfully, humbly ask God to help me understand this great truth, which I knew was my only hope of salvation.

I say this so that my experience may encourage someone who now may be going through his own particular Gethsemane, for my healing did finally come and was followed by many years of gradually increasing spiritual understanding and health. Active membership in a Church of Christ, Scientist, came later, and the wonderful, continuing value of class instruction.
