Reflection: Effortless Expression
A beautiful illustration of man's relation to God is given by Mrs. Eddy in Science and Health: "Your mirrored reflection is your own image or likeness. If you lift a weight, your reflection does this also. If you speak, the lips of this likeness move in accord with yours. Now compare man before the mirror to his divine Principle, God. Call the mirror divine Science, and call man the reflection." Science and Health, p. 515;
God, or Mind, governs His own reflection just as a person before a mirror governs his own image. And being spiritual reflection, man reflects all that God is; his very nature is divine. So the real, spiritual man never lacks; he has abundance. He never tries to be; he is.
When we realize these facts, our efforts to be better, as we know we should be, are based on the understanding that we are already perfect in truth. We rejoice in this line from the prayer Christ Jesus gave his disciples: "Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." Matt. 6:10; God's will done is God reflected, or expressed.
