An article entitled "Mind Control" [in the] Tribune, Feb. 17 was very interesting. But I wonder if the inclusion of Christian Science in the article might not leave some confusion in the thought of your readers.

In referring to the various "mind-cure" systems of her day, Mary Baker Eddy (the author of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures) wrote of the crucial distinction between Christian Science and the so-called mindcurists this way:

"Such theories have no relationship to Christian Science, which rests on the conception of God as the only Life, substance, and intelligence, and excludes the human mind as a spiritual factor in the healing work (p. 185).

Mrs. Eddy went on to teach that efforts based upon the power of human mind were always limited and fatally flawed. She said that such efforts were not beneficial regardless of the label or intention with which they are employed.
