New in Science, but Not New to God
Do you really love Christian Science? Do you have a deep desire to share it so that others will love it as you do? Mrs. Eddy makes this rousing statement: "If the lives of Christian Scientists attest their fidelity to Truth, I predict that in the twentieth century every Christian church in our land, and a few in far-off lands, will approximate the understanding of Christian Science sufficiently to heal the sick in his name. Christ will give to Christianity his new name, and Christendom will be classified as Christian Scientists." Pulpit and Press, p. 22;
If we are to have a part in fulfilling this prediction of Mrs. Eddy's, we must see clearly that God's activity is already going on. Rather than trying to bring God's activity into play, we need to recognize that He's already present and active. And there is no place where God's activity hasn't always been the only activity, no place where He hasn't always been supreme. Man is and has always been a direct expression of infinite Mind. So man's thoughts are what the one Mind—ever present and all-powerful—imparts to him.
This fact implies an important lesson for Christian Scientists when considering adherents of churches of other denominations: the real, spiritual man is loved, directed, and governed by God. Therefore each individual human being, whether Protestant, Jewish, Catholic, or Buddhist, can learn that in his true identity—as the man God made and knows—he is, always has been, and always will be governed by Him, and he can begin to demonstrate this spiritual fact.
