My gratitude for Christian Science is unbounded, and this was brought forcibly to my attention a year ago when I met a friend who had been a member of a Christian Science organization at a large midwestern university at the same time I was.

After reminiscing a little about some of our experiences, and with a twinkle in his eye, he asked this question: "In your experience what are you most grateful for?" I answered without hesitation, "I am most grateful for Christian Science." I then explained that my mother and father had met in a Church of Christ, Scientist; that, having been raised in Christian Science, I had never used any material means for healing; and that all through my life I had applied Christian Science for guidance in family and business matters, and to help in human relationships.

One healing that brought an overwhelming sense of gratitude took place a few years ago as I was traveling with an associate in British Columbia. We were riding along in the direction of Vancouver to spend the night when I was suddenly stricken by intense pain. I felt unable to move or to think clearly. My friend, who was driving the car, saw that I was in great discomfort and asked if he could take me to a doctor or a hospital. I shook my head. He knew I was a Christian Scientist but knew very little about the religion.
