My mother became interested in Christian Science many years ago when Science was first known in our area. She had a healing of a heart condition, and because of her healing I, too, became a Christian Scientist. I was too old to attend Christian Science Sunday School, but I joined the branch church and went regularly. I also taught in the Sunday School.

When I married, we lived in a small town where my husband was clerk in charge of the bank. There was no Church of Christ, Scientist, there. As the children were born, I tried to teach them Christian Science, and we had many healings. As they grew older, we felt they should have a Sunday School. My husband also felt his position in this little town required church affiliation. I withdrew my membership in the branch church and also in The Mother Church. I tried to continue in the study of Christian Science, but it was difficult, and we became active in another denomination.

After the children were grown and married and living elsewhere, my husband passed on. We had moved to the South after his retirement.
