Steps Forward

Beginners in the study of Christian Science may, if they feel their steps are unsteady, find themselves frequently calling a Christian Science practitioner for help and encouragement. They may be tempted to think of problems as bothersome obstructions interfering with otherwise harmonious days. But with patience, perseverance, and faith in God's ever-present goodness to guide them, they can make each problem a step forward in the understanding of Truth and its applicability to daily occurrences.

Beginning steps may seem shaky at times, but when one has been awakened somewhat to the truth of being, he can be assured that divine Love will direct, protect, and sustain his spiritual progress. Working under God's law, we will never find ourselves faced by a problem we can't handle.

Mrs. Eddy's definition of God reads in part, "The great I am; the all-knowing, all-seeing, all-acting, all-wise, all-loving, and eternal." Science and Health, p. 587; Regardless of what the material senses may momentarily indicate, this explanation of God's allness assures us that our creator is forever conscious of the perfection and harmony of His spiritual idea, man. And through Science we can become conscious of that perfection. Mrs. Eddy reminds us, "Step by step will those who trust Him find that 'God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.'" ibid., p. 444;
