At one time, while running backward to chase a tennis ball, I badly injured my foot. In the same instant that pain and weakness seemed to overcome me the first sentence of "the scientific statement of being" in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy came clearly to my thought (p. 468): "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter."

The prayerful repetition of this sentence silenced my fear while I was on the way home. Each word became more authoritative, more meaningful. With my thought quieted enough to meet the next challenge, I removed my shoe and faced the symptoms that showed healing help was necessary right then. Which would it be—medical help or Christian Science treatment?

My answer came in another sentence from the same "scientific statement of being": "All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all." As God is All, there is nowhere else to go; and to go to God for healing to me meant to walk in the path outlined by Christian Science. Plainly, Christian Science was my answer.
