In the twenty-third Psalm we read, "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me." And in Science and Health Mrs. Eddy states (p. vii), "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings."

The truth of these two statements was proved to me after an emergency operation and treatment for some months for what had been diagnosed as an internal growth. I had been told by medical authorities there was evidence that the growth was still active, and treatment on an increased scale would be necessary for an indefinite time.

At this stage, after discussing the situation with a friend, who was a Christian Scientist, I made the decision that reliance on medical means was not my answer. I realized I must return to my Father—I must know and understand that all the experience of the last few months had not separated me from the love of my Father-Mother God.
