As a teen-ager I waited impatiently until I was old enough to take my driver's examination. A driver's license seemed very important. When I went to the examination, I was told that glasses would be required before I could continue with the testing.
I had been taught since early childhood to rely on God for all my needs, but as I felt inadequate to challenge the requirement laid down with my understanding of God, I decided to buy glasses. I was then able to successfully complete the driver's exam.
I disliked wearing the glasses and was very careless with them. Eventually they became so scratched I couldn't wear them. I began driving without glasses until I realized I was disobeying the law, and I should either buy new glasses and use them or prove they were unnecessary.
