The Meaning of Life

There may be times when the question urges itself upon us: What actually is the meaning of life, and what is the meaning of my Life? In many cases this question may arise from a feeling of inner emptiness, of doubt, fear, inharmony, or despair.

Human philosophies and theories have endeavored, unsuccessfully, to give lasting, satisfying answers to the problem of existence. But the teachings of Christian Science, in accord with the Bible, give us a demonstrable, satisfying solution to the meaning of our life.

In the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy writes, "Man is the expression of God's being." Science and Health, p. 470; God's being is completely good. God is the creative Mind, which knows no evil or destruction. He is ever-present Spirit, the substance of all being. God is harmonious Soul, infinitely pure, untouched by the suppositional claims of sin. He is unerring Principle, which includes no mistakes; eternal Life, which neither creates nor permits disease and death; liberating Truth, excluding all error; limitless Love, without a trace of hatred or enmity. This all-loving, completely good God is the creator of the universe, and the Father and Mother of man. Faithfulness, vigilance, brotherly love, and helpfulness stem from God. Man is never apart from Him; there isn't a moment when God ceases to care for His idea, man.
