At the end of my sophomore year in college, I saw that my day-to-day life was almost devoid of original thinking. I seemed incapable of generating original thoughts, so I felt doomed to always using other people's ideas.

Finally, I decided it was time to read Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy cover to cover. The night I began I found a statement that answered my prayer. In the Preface (p. x) Mrs. Eddy says of herself as author, "She has made no effort to embellish, elaborate, or treat in full detail so infinite a theme."
