Recognition, Not Acquisition
Healings of lack as well as of disease occur more readily when we recognize the ever-presence of spiritual good, instead of seeking to acquire good as if it existed in some material form. Christ Jesus' statement "The kingdom of God is within you" Luke 17:21; opens unlimited possibilities for demonstrating good to all who accept this truth. It encourages us to know that good is omnipresent, not always just beyond our reach.
Troubles of any description indicate a lack of recognition in some degree of God's presence and power. A picture of discord changes to harmony in proportion to our spiritual awakening to the allness of good.
We can become more aware that as God's idea, we reflect Mind's intelligence, Soul's purity, Love's provision, Life's completeness— all good derived from God. The tenth commandment, which prohibits coveting our neighbor's possessions, has greater meaning for us as we understand the abundance and impartiality of spiritual good. Coveting causes unnecessary misery. Good unfolds to us individually as we are ready to receive its blessings. Merely taking from one to give to another, or fostering permanent dependence upon others rather than on God, does not destroy the false belief that lack can control one's experience. In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy writes: "Are we really grateful for the good already received? Then we shall avail ourselves of the blessings we have, and thus be fitted to receive more." Science and Health, p. 3;
