The Wedding Day

One morning I woke up with a swollen eye which had appeared to be a sty. It was two days before school and I was afraid that the kids would tease me. Soon I decided I'd better get going on understanding who I really am, the spiritual child of God.

I remembered a part of "the scientific statement of being" by Mary Baker Eddy: "Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual." Science and Health, p. 468; I prayed with this thought for quite a few days. I loved to know that I am the child of God because man is made in His image and likeness. I am spiritual, not flesh and bones, and I can only express God's perfection. I had to pray very hard as I had learned in the Christian Science Sunday School.

School began and I was still knowing my perfection couldn't be changed because God made me. It was helping me be joyful even though the sty still seemed to be there. I was loved at school and I loved them back. Christ Jesus said, "Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself." Matt. 19:19. Soon the sty had gone. However, it was back a couple of days later just before I was to take part in a very special wedding.
