It has been about thirteen years since my first testimony appeared in a Christian Science periodical, and since that time many more blessings have come to me.

I would like to relate one very quick healing of what would probably have been called food poisoning. The symptoms were frightening and I called a Christian Science practitioner to help me through prayer. That night I was due to attend a meeting pertaining to church work. Late in the afternoon I was still not able to stand, even for a few minutes, but I felt assured that I would attend the meeting. In about an hour and a half I was able to get up and dress, much to the surprise of my husband, who attends church with me regularly and cooperates in regard to my reliance on Christian Science treatment for healing, although he is not a student of Science.

Some other healings have taken longer. One was a back condition that made it impossible for me to move without extreme pain. Again I called a practitioner for help. About the third day I was able to move a little, but it was almost two weeks before I was able to move about freely. When I dismissed the practitioner, I was not completely free of pain, but knew that I was healed. During this ordeal, not being able to hold a book, I held to the thought from the Bible (Acts 17:28): "In him we live, and move, and have our being." I saw that in reality Spirit, not matter, supports me—that God is our true support. I was very vigorous in my denials and affirmations—very sure that God was my real and only support—and in a very short time I was free of pain.
