Evil Forebodings Are Unreal
Forebodings—do they trouble us?
We can assure our safety by scientifically controlling the thoughts we accept into our consciousness. When we recognize a lie, we automatically reject it. When evil or discordant suggestions present themselves, we can—through Christian Science—recognize their falsehood and refuse to give them credence. As for our thoughts during sleep, Mrs. Eddy has this to say: "If you fall asleep, actually conscious of the truth of Christian Science,—namely, that man's harmony is no more to be invaded than the rhythm of the universe,—you cannot awake in fear or suffering of any sort." Retrospection and Introspection, p. 61;
A sense of impending evil stems from mortal mind, the counterfeit of the divine Mind. Always predicting evil, it projects a material universe and a mortal man subjected to mishaps, wrongdoing, and death. This material creation or mortal dream appears to be beyond God's government and control.
