My grandfather was a physician and my family and I had relied...

My grandfather was a physician and my family and I had relied on the medical profession all our lives. A few years ago I went through a series of medical tests, and was told that I had multiple sclerosis. I had seen my aunt crippled and pass on with this disease. My state of mind was such that when a neighbor found me in tears, I told her my problems and she suggested that I make an appointment with a Christian Science practitioner.

The medical profession had nothing to offer, and told me I would have times when the disease would seem to be better, but that there was no known cure and I would eventually wind up in a wheelchair. I wanted so much to live to see my five children grow up! Having no other place to turn, I made an appointment with a practitioner listed in The Christian Science Journal. I visited her every day for some time. She talked to me of God and His love, and of the spiritual creation that God created and knows and governs in perfect harmony. I tried to argue with her about many things, but I must admit that she made more sense than I did. On page 201 of the textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, we read: "The way to extract error from mortal mind is to pour in truth through flood-tides of Love. Christian perfection is won on no other basis."

As the truth was being poured in "through flood-tides of Love," I became a new person. The allness of Love didn't allow fear and disease to exist. One day an inner voice said, "You are healed"— so clearly that it was as if someone were with me. It was the awakening to my true perfection, and I rejoiced. My healing was complete from that time. Since then, every member of our family has experienced healing in Christian Science, and my husband joined the church shortly after I did.
