Over twenty years ago I was suffering from an asthmatic condition in its advanced stages. The doctor who was caring for me recommended that I be placed in a sanatorium where I would have day and night care, as he could do no more for me. The thought of living like this was so unbearable that after discussing it with my husband we decided to try a change of climate instead.

My husband carried me to the car, laid me on the back seat, and we headed south. I took along a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, which I had had for some time but never read, and began reading it and praying the best I could. I had decided that if I were to spend the rest of my life in a sanatorium I didn't care to live. Then this book gave me new hope.

I kept reading Science and Health daily, and in a short time I was strong enough to walk short distances. By the end of a month I improved a good deal more and was able to make the trip home again.
