In the year 1950, I first heard of Christian Science through a mailman, who told me that his wife had been healed by it.
While still young in years, I had been led through a missionary to a firm faith in God. Unspeakable joy, such as I had not known before, filled me at that time. I learned to know a happiness the world cannot give. Since then I have experienced God's wonderful help, provision, and guidance.
Today I am convinced that it was His care that brought Christian Science into my home. I had to learn that God frees us from disease, too. I was suffering from a disturbance of the thyroid gland, manifested in distressing symptoms. The thought occurred to me at that time to follow the biblical demand: "Try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world" (I John 4:1). Also, Christ Jesus' own words (Matt. 24:4): "Take heed that no man deceive you." I would rather have remained ill than to lose my joy in God and Christ.
