I became interested in Christian Science when reading the Bible Lesson...

I became interested in Christian Science when reading the Bible Lesson in the Christian Science Quarterly with my husband. A portion of the fourteenth chapter of Matthew, telling of Jesus' walking on the water to his disciples, was illumined. When Peter asked Jesus to bid him come to him on the water, Jesus said (v. 29), "Come." Peter did take a few steps on the water but then became fearful. And when he saw the wind boisterous, he began to sink and said (v. 30), "Lord, save me." Jesus immediately caught him and said (v. 31), "O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?"

Like a loud and gentle voice speaking to me, this account awakened in me great joy, and for months the inspiration stayed with me.

I was seriously ill several years later, and the condition did not seem to heal. I saw that I needed to search my thoughts, and it came to me that I needed to express gratitude. For some months I kept reminding myself that the recognition of good comes from divine Mind and I expressed it. One night an attack came over me. My young daughter and I were alone, and when I went to the living room, she was reading the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and praying for me. A great sense of love and gratitude filled my thought, and I was healed.
