Recognizing God's Prior Claim Brings Healing

In the Klondike gold rush at the end of the last century prospectors usually worked in pairs. If they made a strike, they staked out the area of their workings, and one would then return to the nearest shantytown to record and register their claim with the authorities. Thus any claim to the same area coming afterward would be too late and would be invalid.

We can rejoice that evil's, error's, claim to presence and power in any form always comes too late. God has a prior claim. This claim is registered in the first chapter of Genesis, which describes God as seeing all He had made as good. The spiritual counterfact of each claim of evil is already established.

To accept the false claim of reality and validity in evil may make one its victim. Mrs. Eddy tells us, "Not to know that a false claim is false, is to be in danger of believing it; hence the utility of knowing evil aright, then reducing its claim to its proper denominator,— nobody and nothing."^{Miscellaneous Writings, p. 108;} Christian Science is based on the spiritually scientific fact that God, good, is All-in-all, and on the logical inference that, in the face of this universality of good, evil is nothing.
