One of the healings I have had in Christian Science occurred many years ago and has been permanent. The difficulty, a severe case of bursitis in my right shoulder, arm, and hand, began to trouble me at the busiest season in our office.

The bursitis intensified proportionately to my own increasingly burdened sense of responsibility. It seemed intolerable. I lost the use of my arm and hand, a great handicap in performance of office functions. An associate at the university where I worked, a dedicated Christian Scientist, later to enter the practice, was living in our home during that period. She recommended that I seek help in Science. Although I had sporadically attended services at a local branch church, my acquaintance with Christian Science was quite limited, and I had never consulted a practitioner. After some hesitation, bordering on skepticism, I consented to give this metaphysical means of healing a try.

Upon reaching home, having the use of only my left hand, I telephoned a practitioner in a nearby town. I have long forgotten the passages from the Scriptures and from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy with which she comforted and encouraged me, but I can never forget the humility and joy I felt as I put down the receiver. All pain had vanished, and I found I could raise my arm and open and close my hand normally again. The healing had been instantaneous, and there has never been a return of the difficulty.
