Since I have had many healings through Christian Science and proofs of God's great love, I wish to express my sincere gratitude.
I was considered sickly as a child and into my teens. Later while teaching, I had a nervous breakdown, followed by a series of surgical operations, and it was said that I would never be strong. However, I was introduced to Christian Science through a friend who took me to a Thanksgiving Day service in The Mother Church in Boston. With many persons standing at one time, waiting to testify to God's goodness and healing power, I thought, "Surely this is a foretaste of heaven!"
I was so impressed that I immediately took up the study of Science. I found a peace in it that I had not found in another church I had attended. But I did not pursue it seriously until after I had lost my husband, home, and most of my worldly possessions. I realize now what Mrs. Eddy meant by the statement, "Trials are proofs of God's care" (Science and Health, p. 66). I was sustained by loving Christian Science friends, who encouraged me to continue studying when my way seemed dark indeed.
